to make their own independent life choices and respecting their right to
self-determination.
2. Beneficence (Doing Good): Actively
promoting the client’s mental health, growth, and overall well-being in every
session.
3. Non-maleficence (Do not harm): Ensuring
that techniques, words and interventions never exploit, distress, or cause harm
to the client.
4. Justice and Fairness: Providing
equal, unbiased and non-discriminatory care to all individuals, regardless of
background.
5. Fidelity and Trust: Staying faithful
to professional promises, maintaining strict reliability, and honoring the
therapeutic relationship.
6. Veracity (Honesty): Being completely
truthful about qualifications, fees, expectations, and the realistic outcomes
of therapy.
7. Informed Consent: Securing voluntary
agreement from the client after clearly explaining therapy goals, costs, risks,
and policies before starting.
8. Strict Confidentiality: Protecting
the privacy of client information, ensuring that what is shared remains secure
and private.
9. Explicit Limit to Privacy: Breaking
confidentiality only when legally required, such as preventing immediate
self-harm to others, or reporting abuse.
10. Professional Boundaries: Keeping a
clear line between professional and personal life, which strictly forbids
romantic financial or harmful dual relationships with clients.
